Li Auto GB/T and CCS2 Charging Abroad: Verify the Complete Connection

1. Photograph the actual inlet and identify the vehicle

Start with the VIN, model year, trim and original sales market of the L6, L7, L8, L9, i6, i8 or MEGA you are considering. Obtain clear inlet photographs and the charging pages from its matching manual. Do not identify compatibility from the model name or an advertisement. GB/T 20234.3-2023 is a Chinese DC charging-coupler standard; its catalogue entry does not establish the hardware fitted to your vehicle.

2. Assess AC and DC charging separately

Make two lists: the AC equipment you intend to use regularly, and the DC stations needed for longer trips. For each, record the operator, connector, equipment ratings and the vehicle limits documented for that version. A successful AC session does not verify DC operation. A CCS2 label on a destination charger is not evidence that a particular GB/T vehicle and adapter combination will work.

• Ask the equipment supplier to confirm the complete vehicle–adapter–charger combination in writing, including any software or communication requirements.

3. Treat an adapter as a specific documented product

Record the adapter maker, exact model, supported direction of conversion and rated operating limits. Request instructions and explicit vehicle and charger compatibility information. Physical fit alone is insufficient. IEC 62196-3 addresses charging-coupler interfaces; the public scope of IEC TS 62196-7 covers selected DC adapter configurations and excludes AC connector-to-inlet adapters. Neither source is blanket approval of a product advertised as GB/T-to-CCS2.

4. Request a documented real charging session

Have the supplier or a competent charging provider demonstrate the intended combination according to its instructions. Record the vehicle version, station and adapter identifiers, date, starting battery level, observed charging power and energy delivered. Include confirmation that charging started and ended normally. A photograph of an inserted connector is not a session record. One successful test supports that tested combination, not every public station.

5. Plan realistic charging time and a backup stop

The official i8 W022026MAX battery manual explains that temperature and high battery charge can lengthen charging, and that driving conditions affect range. Use those principles as planning context, not an identical charging curve for every Li Auto. Obtain version-specific limits and retain a second verified charging option. Do not base an overseas journey on a China-market peak-power advertisement or an untested adapter. Availability and compatibility remain subject to confirmation.
